A Year Filled with Travel, Ceramics, and Inspiration

2024 was an extraordinary year for me. I was invited to take part in the Taoxichuan Art Center Residency in Jingdezhen, the heart of Chinese ceramics. In total, I spent five months there. It took some time to adjust to the cultural differences, but once I settled in, the place revealed itself in the most inspiring ways. I could already feel how this environment was influencing my work during the residency, but the change became even more visible once I returned to my own studio.

Fusion of Visions: A Traveling Exhibition

Together with several AIC members from the Benelux, we organised a traveling exhibition titled Fusion of Visions.

Its first stop was Ceramic Art Andenne in Belgium, in May 2025. The exhibition then moved on to Gmunden in Austria and later to Aveiro in Portugal. It was a wonderful experience to see the work travel across Europe and to witness how different audiences responded to it.

Changchun: Working With Artists From Around the World

In August 2025, I was invited to participate in the 12th China Changchun International Ceramics Symposium – Lianhua Mountain Ceramics Camp.

Changchun, a large and highly developed city in northern China, turned out to be a dynamic and inspiring environment. For three weeks, I worked alongside thirty artists from all over the world. The exchange of ideas, techniques, and stories was unforgettable.

Spain and a Special Surprise

In 2025, I also traveled to Spain twice. First to deliver my work for the 22nd Biennal International Ceramic Angelina Alós in Esplugues de Llobregat, and later — in early October — to attend the award ceremony. To my great surprise and pride, my work won the first prize.

Looking Ahead to 2026: New Projects and New Countries

2026 promises to be another exciting year. I am currently working in my studio on new pieces for my exhibition at Galerie Franzis Engels in Amsterdam, which will run from 15 March to 10 May 2026.

The Fusion of Visions exhibition will continue its journey as well, traveling to Muel in Spain and to the Keramion in Frechen, Germany.

In addition, I have been selected to participate in the special IAC residency project during the 52nd IAC Congress in Jingdezhen. In April and May, I will be working at the Quyang-Ding Kiln White Porcelain Contemporary Ceramics Art Center.

And as a beautiful conclusion to the year, I have been selected for the 2026 Taiwan Ceramics Residency Program, which will take place in the autumn.

Thematic and artistic principles

In my work, materiality is telling and all-important. I choose materials that impress. Sometimes through their physical appearance – fragile and vulnerable. Sometimes through their sensory impact – there’s no escaping them.

Connections

Ik ben gefascineerd door verbindingen.
Delen die niets met elkaar gemeen hebben, verbind ik om een eenheid tot stand te brengen, niet om tot een functioneel object te komen.
